Malaysian Health Authority has encouraged Bangladeshi patients to travel to Malaysia to receive advanced medical treatment at affordable costs. As part of this initiative, the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) has launched its “U-Turn” campaign in Bangladesh.
On Monday, a delegation from MHTC met with the Honorable Minister of Health and Family Welfare, H.E. Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain, at the ministry’s office in Dhaka. The delegation was led by the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh, H.E. Mohd Shuhada Othman.
During the meeting, discussions were held on further strengthening healthcare cooperation between the two countries. MHTC stated that revenue from healthcare travel involving Bangladeshi patients seeking treatment in Malaysia had increased by 22.7 percent compared with the previous year.
MHTC officials said that Malaysia now offers technologically advanced hospitals, specialist doctors, and medical treatment at comparatively lower costs. For these reasons, Bangladeshi patients are being encouraged to consider Malaysia as their preferred destination for medical treatment.
The MHTC visit and related programs in Bangladesh will continue from August 17 to 20. During the visit, the delegation will hold meetings with hospitals, referral agencies, and healthcare-related organizations.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also expressed a positive stance toward expanding medical cooperation between the two countries.
