After sealing the series within the first two matches, Bangladesh are now eyeing a historic clean sweep against England, as they will take on the world champions in the third and final game of the three-match Twenty20 International series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today.
The match will start at 3:00pm and will be televised live on GTV and T Sports.
Earlier, Shakib Al Hasan’s side won the series against the one-day and T20 World Champions England on Sunday, becoming the only team to ever defeat a current world champion in their first series of that specific format since the World Cup.
It was also the first time the Tigers managed to clinch a bilateral series against the higher-ranked England.
Now the Tigers are looking forward to an even bigger achievement, which is a clean sweep over the Three Lions, as Bangladesh have never managed a clean sweep before against a higher-ranked side in T20I series before.
Bangladesh national team selector and former captain Habibul Bashar echoed the same, saying the side will play the final game with a view to winning it, and it will be great to win all the matches of the series against the world champions.
‘We will play the third match to win. We have already won the series against the world champions. It will be even better if we can win the last match as well,’ Bashar told the reporters on Monday.
Bashar is also happy with the Tigers’ progress in the T20s and wants the side to continue playing like this.
‘It’s satisfying that in this series, we could play the way we want to play in the T20s. It’s important that we get to hold on to the process and keep playing this way.’
