Defending champions Bangladesh made a winning start in the 3rd Bangabandhu Cup 2023 International Kabaddi Tournament, beating Poland by 50-22 points at the National Kabaddi Stadium on Monday.
The hosts ended the first half down 11–14 points, but made an amazing comeback in the second half and added 36 points to end the match in style.
Tuhin Tarafder, the captain of Bangladesh, was named player of the match for his outstanding performance. Bangladesh had previously won the previous two editions of this competition, in 2021 and 2022.
The International Kabaddi Federation recognised this competition as an Asian qualifier for the upcoming Kabaddi World Cup this year.
The top two Asian teams from this competition will join the other four top-ranked teams—India, Pakistan, South Korea, and Iran—in the World Cup.
